WHAT IS THE FAMILY CENTER, INC.?
The Family Center, Inc. was created from a vision of the Counseling and Education Center, Inc., founded in 1991 to address the needs of local children and families. Through the work of the Counseling and Education Center, Inc. the dire need to expand services soon became apparent.
Our services are offered without cost to disenfranchised individuals who have often received fragmented services. The Family Center, Inc. seeks to integrate services and uses a coordinated community response to promote the prevention and treatment of domestic violence. The Family Center, Inc. was incorporated in 1997 and opened Angels of Grace Battered Women’s Shelter in 1998. In 2007, a second shelter, Anna’s Place, was opened to address the lack of services available along the eastern border of the Arkansas delta region. In order to address the issue of domestic violence in the Delta of eastern Arkansas, The Family Center, Inc. provides a broad range of services that include support groups, individual and family therapy, crisis counseling, assistance with compensation claims, legal advocacy, outreach, follow-up after leaving the shelter, medical and substance abuse advocacy, as well as assistance with personal care, food, clothing, and employment.
